May 24, 2016, 10:25 pm I also received a robot call from this number today. They left one message on my cell and then two messages on my home phone. I do not answer calls with numbers I do not recognize. The message left said it was the IRS trying to notify me that they were suing me. Why would the IRS call me especially since I do not owe them anything? I never panicked. I knew immediately this was a scam. They would never have a point of contact for such a major accusation with communication skills so lacking. May 25, 2016, 5:39 pm Robo call. Called back to hear the scam. The guy said his name was Dane Chaplin through very broken english. I asked if he was related to Charlie Chaplin and he said yes which is why he was rich and did not have tax problems. I, however, owed $6800 and agents were already on their way to arrest me. Why doesn't the IRS go after these creeps who scam us? Until Americans get fed up enough and force Congress to work...that is show up, identify these issues and work on them for us...people who voted for them and gave THEM a job, nothing will be done and poor innocent people will be scammed out of money and scared and this is WRONG!!! I demanded to know their location, and the "IRS rep" became belligerent and said "no, no, no, that's not how this is going to go. You're not getting any information unless you give me your first and last name!" I told him to stop calling me and blocked this number. First of all, the IRS NEVER answers on the first ring. June 1, 2016, 5:16 pm I received a call from a (fraudulent) IRS agent saying I owed back taxes from 2005 - 2008 for $7,800. I of course knew it was a fraud so I listened to him in (broken English). I gave him erroneous information but he said he was verifying everything. He then told me he was going to transfer me to his supervisor. After a brief period his supervisor was on the line whose English accent was even worse. He asked if I could pay the entire amount today. I said yes, and I would go immediately to my local IRS office. He said "Oh not sir, it is over late and you will pay me now or I will send sheriff to arrest you." I then asked him where his office was? He said it was in New York City? I asked, "Is it in Manhattan? No he said it is in NYC. The I asked if it was in Queens, Brooklyn, Flushing Meadow, Astoria,or the Bronx?? No, he again said, "My office in New York City." Obviously, he had never been to New York City. June 6, 2016, 12:31 pm As everyone else I received a voicemail saying the IRS was suing me. So I called back but immediately got suspicious when THEY asked me MY name. Common sense told they should know my name and DOB since they are looking for me. Then, she asked for the last 4 of my social. I asked her if this was needed to confirm my identify because I recently had my number changed and I wanted to make sure they had the correct person they were looking for. She hung up on me. June 21, 2016, 11:12 am I also received a call from this this number with a recording stating that they have made several attempts to contact me (this is their first time calling me) and that they are going to sue me and for me to call them back. I am an IRS Employee and we get these calls all the time about people phishing for their personal information( that's all they are doing is phishing hoping that someone falls prey to their scam.The IRS does not and will not call you personally just to make you aware ( we are not babysitters, and we are not going to hold your hand to say please pay us. we know how to garnish wages/income if you get any kind of income or have any kind of assets of value. We will notify you to death via mail with correspondence about what is going to happen, but we will never ever ever ever ever call you.
