August 10, 2017, 2:56 pm Claimed to be with the IRS which had filed a lawsuit and issued a warrant as stated above. I do have a debt with the IRS which was filed as part of a bankruptcy, and I am confident that is where they got the information about the amount and years involved. The very first thing the guy said when he answered the phone was, "Hello? Can you hear me?" Any government office will always, as required by the FCRA, stated their office. In essence, "IRS Investigation Office." He also spoke with a very thick Indian accent. When I challenged the information because of the bankruptcy, he said he would transfer me to the "investigating officer". The woman who answered in the same, but not as pronounced, accent, gave me some random "badge number". When I asked for the phone number from where she was calling she said, "I'm calling from the number on your phone." To which I replied, "Can you just verify it for me?" She then said, "You don't know the number on your phone?" I replied, "You don't know the phone number where you work?" She replied, "Why should I tell you the number that you already have?" "Because I am becoming very suspicious of this call," I said, "and I don't believe you work for the IRS!" She hung up. Caller Company: IRS Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 11, 2017, 10:01 pm Got a call claiming I had a warrant out for my arrest from the FBI. Call came at 7:40 pm, though, which I believe they probably would've made during normal business hours. Should the IRS be investigating the people who are impersonating them? Caller Company: IRS
