December 16, 2015, 10:43 pm I am getting phone calls for student debt relief and debt assistance on this line. They said that I had been flagged for eligibility for loan assistance and forgiveness. December 28, 2015, 12:32 pm Student loan forgiveness calls. This is possibly a scam. Anything with financial products is very suspect on the phone. Often times these student loan forgiveness schemes are just another form of payday loan scams. I wouldn't trust this caller at all and block if you have a blocker already. January 9, 2016, 2:19 am I think it's a scammer trying to fell young people with student loans into getting them paid off for free. They will ask for money to secure the reduced loan or payoff. February 19, 2016, 1:45 pm I got a phone call, saying they may be able to reduce my student loan by 60%. I asked them where they got my number and they said from a public database, where my number was flagged. I asked who they were and they hung up.

When the lady asked for my social security number, I immediately got on the computer and started googling their number. I asked her for the name of her company and the website, when she realize I was checking them out while we were speaking she hung up in my face. BTW the website did not come up! March 3, 2016, 2:36 pm Message about Student Load forgiveness. While the federal government does offer programs for Student loan forgiveness and reduction, I'm always cautious of strange people calling. They tried to get me to consent to setting up an account on the Federal Student Aid website. I told them that I was already registered and would I be able to log in and view these opportunities online (because I like to verify that I'm talking to someone legit and I already knew that that is possible). They told me they would need to get my username and password in order to get me setup......*click*. Sounds like a phishing scam to me. Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

Did the feds change the rules and allow access to our cell numbers? This was definitely a scam, but I worry about my kids with college debt... I tried to call back and got the message "the google customer you are trying to reach is not available. Please leave a call back number." I didn't but I did search the internet for the number which lead to this blog. After seeing this blog, I have to suspect that the call is a scam of some type.
