I actually would call the number back, just for grins, except I don't want whoever is on the other end of this to think they've reached someone. May yet do it from my office phone.... Because I have had this same call several times from other numbers,I told them so and hung up. May 24, 2016, 6:57 pm Received a phone call approximately 8:30 AM on Tuesday, 24th May 2016-- Caller with Middle Eastern accent claiming to be a third-party IRS representative said I owed back taxes after they had done an audit From 2008 -2014 and I owed approximately $2200 ( that was scam alert #1. The irs would not do an audit without you knowing about it !) I cooperated and patiently waited for his approach on payment to decide whether or not he was a scammer the phone died so I called back. First of all the only information he had was name phone number basically information I had given him. He said his name was Michael mead & gave me a phony badge ID number. I'm not easily scammed so I find this amusing he said that I would be arrested and thrown in jail and my assets would be seized within that day. He Said the conversation was being recorded by the highest of authorities . I said so you do not work for the IRS correct but you are trying to collect money, the phone diconnected again so I called back and said where are you calling from? he said Washington DC, I said no you're not, I said what country are you calling from. He got upset right away said F you mother f-er and hung up. By all means take these people seriously it's supposedly an Isis organization. don't give them any information your best bet is to hang up immediately block the # & file a complaint with tigta online. May 25, 2016, 9:31 am Received a call this morning before 8:00 a.m. I hit decline call and it went to voicemail. When I listened to the voicemail, it was an automated call stating "you are being sued by the IRS". Who YOU are, I don't know. Of course they wanted me to call them back, which isn't happening. May 26, 2016, 9:57 am Have received calls for two days in the row from this number, pretending to be from IRS. I didnt pick up, but the caller left messages regarding lawsuits from IRS. (Scam- IRS never call first, they send a letter first to notify). Never pick up from this #. Once you pick up, your # will be in their system. You'll get harassed even the # will be no longer exist. The best thing to do is to report this caller to IRS website. May 26, 2016, 10:17 am My mother, who speaks limited English, got a phone call from a 509-233-4023 number this morning. The speaker calling has a thick Spanish accent, told her that she owed the IRS money, and demanded her bank account numbers for nearly 10K. She asked the speaker to identify themselves and to give a call back number, in order for her daughter (me) to reach them. When I called back, they threatened they would send a cop to the house if we did not pay. I informed them I believed they were scammers and I was an attorney, and they hung up. But I think that these guys have hacked the IRS tax return files, because this is the first year that I have a balance outstanding on last year's return. TRUST ME if the IRS is suing you they will notify by mail or serve you papers! This computer voice has called me (an hour apart) 7 times. Keep away from these types of calls. May 26, 2016, 2:01 pm called 5/25 3:19 pm and 9:32 am 5/26 talked to a guy with a accent, he stated my address and ask my name hesitated but gave . the no. was 509-233- 4064 last digit different but same approach as other comments .said he was a agent from the IRS and I owed money and was actually reading from a card (same tone) all's I could do is laugh and say are you serious?He said they could take my house and car and any assets I had of value if I didn't pay 9 thousand and some dollars . That I owed from 2009 to this year. Mind you I am disabled and haven't worked since that time ...... and once he proceeded finish reading off his card. I told him I cant work I am crippled that I don't owe anyone taxes IRS or other wise that he was full of s**t and I was reporting him . He told me I wasted his time and hung up! lol! June 1, 2016, 7:11 pm Got this call on a couple different occasions over the past couple of months. Automated female voice saying it is our last notice and we are being sued by the IRS. I laughed at it but decided to play along. Called the number and told them I wanted to cooperate and fix it. Asked if I could get a physical address to come down and talk about all the back taxes I owe. When I did that they hung up on me and I didn't get a call back for a month or so. Guy was Indian (Country) accented. This last time they called I called back and got a guy (Indian accent again) who claimed to be Officer Scott Cart of the IRS. So I played along and asked a bunch of questions to which he gave quite unbelievable answers. I asked for his supervisor he said he was the supervisor, of course. I told him I knew the IRS did not have "officers" but had "special agents" and asked if he was one of those, which he was of course. I asked him what his job classification and series was and he said manager. Okay, I could have dragged this on but called BS. I told him I knew damn well he was lying his butt off. All federal employees have a job classification and series (General Schedule at least). I asked what series he was and he said supervisor again. I told him if he is a special agent with the IRS he should know his series (its an 1800 series), I know mine. He proceeded to call me a few choice names and the like and then hung up on me. I called back and he answered again. After asking him why the IRS would be so rude he did it again and hung up. I called him back three more times and repeated the above with the same Indian guy. I know I should have let him go about his "legitimate IRS business" and not harassed him in such a manner, but I couldn't . I was very happy to do it and my number is now blocked on their end. I can't call them anymore. I'm okay with that too. So call them up, tie up their lines. You'll never be able to stop them. It didn't leave a case number or mention a name. IRS would never say I was being sued, if anything it would be one of those "delicate personal matters", but not flat out saying sued! October 4, 2016, 3:53 pm I got a call on from 509 233-4064 on 10/4/16 at 3:40pm talked to a guy with a accent, he said he was a agent from the IRS and I owed money, the IRS is suing me for fraud on my taxes. I told him that I file taxes every year perfectly without mistakes, so said, that he must be a scammer, because I never received any mail information regarding this. He said that I needed to listen and not to interrup, of course I kept interrupting and told him he's a scammer, then he said he is sending the sherrif to pick me up and take me to jail, I said ok and hung up.
