September 24, 2015, 1:25 am The caller id said "DIR ASST" and they called themselves "Direct Assistance." The are a computer assistance scam. All fraud. They mislead you about computer problems and then want to offer the solution with fake remote fixing. The end goal of the call is to sell you fake tech support memberships. September 25, 2015, 5:13 am Fake windows tech support agents. Strong Indian accents. Male callers. They will say you have a virus or other computer problem that requires them to fix it. They told me that they detected a virus off my ip address. So I asked them what my ip address was and they couldn't tell me so I laughed and hung up. They are fake tech support agents from Microsoft and they are trying to sell you fake tech support memberships after falsely fixing a virus on your computer. This is a long running scam that even the fbi is aware of. The fbi has a few of their most wanted criminals as people who ran scams such as this. October 4, 2015, 7:36 pm Foreign sounding people from India. This is not a full scam...more of a very misleading scheme to sell you products for computer tech support. They fake the computer virus to sell you tech support contracts and then sell you software which is online already for free. The tech support contract might be legit, but the method they convince you of a problem requiring the selling of the contract is a complete sham. They will say something is wrong with your computer and only they can fix ti with remote access that requires your assistance to setup. Will want you to sit at your computer to help them address the virus that is spreading on the network because of your computer. I have a mac so I laughed at them. Then I said I haven't used my computer in a long time. He then repeated my response. I said, yeah thats what I said. Then he hung up on me. October 19, 2015, 10:50 am This number calls relentlessly from 8 in the morning until after 9 at night. Have registered complaint with State, DO NOT CALL. If we needed to reduce our budget, we could do away with that office. Have blocked the call but the calls keep coming. (Had to pay extra $ with carrier). Now it still rings once and then is blocked.
