I have filed a case with the police department and even spoken with district atty. They are scammers. have threatened on multiple occasions to show up at my home to serve papers. Have tried hanging up. Also waited and pressed whatever to speak to someone - busy signal or no one and hang up. In-laws also getting the calls. Can't report them without area code. January 21, 2016, 12:19 pm Received calls daily from this number or 844-226-8637 saying they're handing an important legal matter and leave a claim number. When I don't answer they either call my mother in law or work. Constantly saying I owe on a payday from 2009; called my former bank and looked online in the checking account and cannot find any deposit on the date they claim the funds were deposited or tried to with drawn. DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING!!! My HR department talked to them ~ they said they'd disrupt my workplace if she didn't tell them where we were located. When she told them we were calling the cops cause it was a scam the foreign lady got upset and hung up!! Why can't this stop? After leaving him with a restraining order and filed for divorce, I moved out of state and got this number 2 years later. How did they even link his name to this number?? They get numbers of family members from sites on the internet like Spokeo or similar: "should be illegal as I don't publish any numbers or addresses" they have called our family members also. I have told them not to call and have blocked numbers, they just call from a different number. It does no good to block. I had to call from a different number so they would answer. When I told them they were a scam she got pissed and said, "you people that don't pay your bills always say that! Well we don't owe any thing to any one, we even pay cash for our vehicles. January 25, 2016, 1:44 pm Got a call from this number saying I owed $525 and read off my social security number. They wanted me to fax them all my information on a loan that I had that "might" have matched what they are talking about, but I knew something was wrong. I call my previous loan and they said they do their own in house collecting and my account was closed and paid. Nothing was owed. I called them back and explained, of course I was mad. The lady made is seem like I was in court calling my a defendant and a claim number and so on. I called them scammers and she said " I hope you have a good lawyer, good luck in court " and hung up on me. My only concern is that they may have my entire social security number. I reported my information to the credit Bureaus for any future potential fraud. If they call you don't confirm your information just hang up and block their number. They were asking for personal information, but wouldn't tell me who they are. I wouldn't provide any and insisted on finding out who they are. The call was braking up pretty badly and the caller had a thick accent. Couldn't understand most of it, but it was something about some pay day loan from years ago, and I have no idea what it's about. He was attempting to threaten, but I didn't give him any info because I could tell right away it was a SCAM. Beware!!! She wouldn't tell me exactly what the names were and when I wouldn't pay she got mad and said I'm putting down that you don't want to take care of this good luck in court and she hung up on me. They keep calling my grandmother to. They ended up calling me five minutes after she hung up on me and I answered and pressed 0 and it was a busy signal. Scammers don't give any info. I did *67 and called them back this morning and asked for their mailing address was told they do give that out, I than explained to them that I had googled them and they are a scam the accented lady asked me did I believe everything on Google and I said yes when you have been reported. Because the amounts are below the $75,000 threshold for this kind of thing, there is little the FBI can do. In fact, nothing, since they are in Asia. The best thing to do is NOT answer the call, or any call from an 844 area code for that matter. However, if you do talk to them, have fun with it knowing they are scammers. February 27, 2016, 12:40 am I also have had several calls. I blocked the number and that's worked so far. Filed a complaint with the federal credit bureau and the ma state attorney generals office. They will say they can not mail anything to you can only email. That's how I new it was not legit. Any actual debt agency would mail you something if asked. The only info they did not have was my email, so do not give to them. Contacted attorney and said if they ever call back contact my local police. March 4, 2016, 1:50 pm Same story as the rest of you, this number has been calling my mom's house for weeks asking for my EX husband from over 10 years ago. I called back, gave them the house phone number and asked them to remove it from the list - that was after I was hung up on twice. The guy was nice and said he'd "look it up and remove it" - but now I'm extremely discouraged after reading all of these comments. My poor mother is going to keep getting these calls.
