September 11, 2013, 2:16 pm called and answered from a company that indicated that I had won a free cruise. When I asked what company they worked for they hung up. Have called the number back and informed that this was a promotion or survey and if I do not wish to participate in the future press 9 (which I did) Just got called again - this time I did not answer. I just wonder are these cell phone service provider giving out contact info of their clients???? that's a breach of trust !!!!!! Hope someone who can do something about it is reading this thread.... September 14, 2013, 11:01 am It is not a simple matter of reporting them. It is an illegal operation and they are using illegal equipment to call out on. The government and police forces would love nothing more than to catch them, but is hard as the systems they use dial random #s and they use a fake account so it can't be traced back. Even worse, these guys will sometimes pick a random # and use it to do the calls from that they program into the system. I have encountered that one and if the person says they didn't make the call tell them to check their phone bill right away, a scammer has been calling from their number. These guys only want someone who will pick up, they will never answer a call back ever. To discourage them from ever calling you back I use the "whistle" method: Answer the phone and as soon as it starts give it a sec and then BLOW LOUDLY into the phone.
