December 4, 2013, 8:34 pm This is a fake IRS debt collection / extortion scam call. Don't trust them for anything. The government has made public statements about having no involvement with this scam. They don't phone you making threats. If they were going to arrest for you tax violations they would just show up with a warrant to do that. You also can't be sent to jail for owing money. That was abolished a very long time ago. December 6, 2013, 11:47 am If you receive a call call back and tell them that you will call the IRS directly and get all his information. But they will hang up on you. The government doesn't make calls like this. These people are part of some criminal mob enterprise that is using phone systems and computers systems to automate a massive cold calling campaign with criminal intentions. March 4, 2015, 7:29 am These people pretend to be from the IRs and will threaten you with arrest or serious litigation if you don't pay them immediately. The need to pay immediately should be the tip off that this is a scam. Time and fear is their weapon to get you to screw yourself and pay them.
