Junk debt collection is probbly the best description for these people. They buy expired debt lists and then scare people in mass calling campaigns. They have a website at http://www.portfoliorecovery.com/ but I would stay clear of them as speaking to them or co-operating with them may restart the statute of limitations against you and cause them to come after you even more aggressively. September 17, 2015, 9:56 pm This is confirmed to be a debt recovery agency called "Portfolio Recovery" and they wanted $500 for an old debt and said that they will be serving me papers so to begin the litigation process. I've heard that these threats and behavior from a debt collection agency is illegal if they don't send letters. Sorry I will not be paying this. October 11, 2015, 1:32 am I am getting threats for legal action and complaints on my credit report if i don't pay an old debt a second time. That's right, I have already paid the $145 claimed by these people and they still make threats. They refuse to believe me so I will ignore them until they get a lawyer and mail me registered mail documents to prove they are serious.
