They use touchtone skimmers to take your cc# using automated messages with lies about specials for cc options. Lower APR rate in this case. They are millionaires with the rate they are scamming people as some people never check their card statements. They have computers making millions of robocalls a day with a fake message pretending to be card services (they never say which brand) and then offer you time limited offers that you need to take advantage of right away or risk losing them. Then you type your card number into the phone and they bill you $495 (that's the average billing, some people get higher). A big national con going on here that the gov is working on arresting. They FTC actually had a contest to create a invention to stop this particular caller because they are so insidious they never stop. I had the charges reversed, but it wasn't a comfortable conversation with the real card services to get the reversal.
