I have to say they did scare me at first then once I started talking to them I figured it out and put the number that called me in the computer and I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE IT HAS HAPPENED TOO...... May 9, 2016, 8:04 pm Same issue as others. Called and left voicemail claiming to be 'Internal Revenue Services" and urgent legal action was pending against me. My case number was PH762945. Message said "(me) or (my) legal representative" must call back immediately. Voice was very broken up like a bad cell connection. I called back (from a non-personal business line) and was on hold, with estimated wait times ever-increasing. The guys can help you just say "how are you, my day has been great thought you might want to know since you haven't called in like an hour" , seems to upset them and they hang up. but repeat calls is fun to annoy the heck out of these scamming A-holes. Wouldn't it be fun if everyone did this the same day for about 24 hours straight so they could know how irritating they are. The one I got this morning was much more threatening, I think they feel if they call when you're a little out of it you may be more apt to believe them as we all know what it's like to get a call in the morning. I wanted them to take the number off their calling list... They actually called my place of employment... Business phone.. So I called them back and when they finally answered.. May 12, 2016, 8:10 pm Yes, same deal, a "canned" robotic voice, with a threatening message..... I had not picked up the call, letting it go to voicemail. A few hours later I called it back and when I was transferred to a real person (background noise sounded like a "boiler room") I screamed as loudly as I could right into the mouthpiece of my device. Hung up. These types of calls have been coming from several different numbers, and states. Figuring if everyone yelled a loud cry into their ears, it might stop. One can hope! May 18, 2016, 2:37 pm same as above. total scam. I called them back and asked to speak to a manager. I told them they were under investigation by the FBI and the Indian Investigation Bureau. I told them they had a known address in Delhi and that if they didn't comply with a request for business information the investigation would be handled by field officers that would visit their location by the end of business today. They guy on the phone said, "no, we're not IRS, we are the import export office" and denied having already told me they were IRS. I knew he was lying and told him it was a scam. told him the next time he called, I'd report him to the authorities. these 2 most recent calls had noone at the other end of the line so I just hung up. If I was BIG trouble with the IRS I'm sure I would have gotten several letters first, and I am almost certain they would not leave a broken choppy robotic voice mail to let me know I was in trouble, plus they never mention your name. They claim to be the IRS and threaten you with jail time if you "don't resolve your unpaid taxes immediately". The IRS would never ever do this, obviously and these dumbass scammers don't even know your name. Lol It's really sad that people fall for this out of fear and naivete. Because she is from a trusting generation, the potential for her to have actually called back and give them info was great.
