May 27, 2016, 4:05 pm Yes, it's a total scam. If you have the time, call them back and try to talk them into quitting their jobs. There is nothing that can be done to their employers via U.S. law because the call center is in India. I called back about 10 times this afternoon - most times they hung up on me as soon as I reveled that I knew it's a scam. One used all the bad words he had in English. But my last call was taken by a nice soft spoken young man. He wasn't sure what to do when I him if he was happy where he worked. It was his first day. We talked for a bit, he told me his REAL name and said he was going to quit. Be angry at the exploitative employers - those poor people who work the phones are all very unhappy but need the money. May 27, 2016, 6:07 pm Robo voice left voice mail on landline today saying it was "Inspector Internal Revenue Service" and a lawsuit has been filed against me. I must call 347-478-5055 immediately. Been getting this same call regularly and tried to submit a complaint form on the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) website today, but - of course - the site is broken. He said that they had already sent me paperwork "which we have not received" and they were not obligated to send me any further paperwork. They threatened me by saying that if i would not pay this amount quickly the government would put a lean on our property, take away my drivers license, and add additional amount to my bill. Collection agencies can only call during business hours. Robo-calling on a federal holiday pretending to be the IRS and threatening innocent people with a lawsuit? These calls are federal offenses and the feds need to open a case and prosecute ASAP. I worry about the elderly and those who are not savvy about law, or who may be struggling to pay past taxes. May 31, 2016, 7:26 pm I received the same call as everyone else regarding the non-payment in 2013 owing $2400. The man stated his name was Beny Smith, Agent #IRM12609. Asked me if the money owed was a miscalculation or if I purposely did not pay. Told me there is a policeman in route to my house to arrest me for non-payment of my taxes. He wanted to know if I wanted to settle out of court or in court and I told him I would not pay anything until I see something in writing so I can show my accountant. Told me an agent had gone to my house on Sept 15 and I had 90 days to respond. Since the time has elapsed now there's a warrant for my arrest. I told him I would look into it and call him back.
