Told him he was a thief and he is a dishonor to India. He asks me if I speak Hindi (their lingo) I said, "Of course I speak English. I am 80 years old and I have been speaking English since I was a small boy. The British came and forced us to learn English so we could serve them. By the way, do you know my boy? My son? April 8, 2016, 9:18 pm Caller states Microsoft has been receiving many errors from my computer and have I had any problems. He said could solve problems if I let them on my computer. A scam to steal info from my computer. Ironically, I happened to turn on an old computer, which had crashed this winter, today to check something. It kept looping with the Microsoft 'serious error message' and wanted to send the report. I kept canceling, but it kept coming back, so I finally relented, since I had had a major crash the last time I used it. Now I wonder if it already has been infected and that they are already on that machine. Coincidence or really related events. Did anyone else have this experience. He hung up when I asked for the time he got the messages from my computer. They called again today and I decided to have some fun I told them they crashed my computer and got a manager. I told them I could only get a blue screen. I told them I was going to get in touch with Microsoft and shut them down if they didn't fix it. They gave me a bogus phone # number to have some one come to my house and fix the problem. This a really bad scam. I suggest the Attorney's Generals Office needs some calls on this group. Every time it is from a heavily accented man telling me that he is from Windows (windows is not a company - its a software - Microsoft is the company) and that they were alerted to a problem reported from my computer - same story as everyone else here - he wanted me to allow him remote access to my computer to fix the problem. No way to verify who they are, there is no way i am allowing them access to my personal or business computers. They are VERY persistent. I finally put the number on the auto-rejected list on my cell phone. (I still get notified that they call but it doesnt ring - and yes, they are still calling....) I wish i could report them and make them stop. I am on the Government Do Not Call list, and have told them this repeatedly. It does no good. April 18, 2016, 8:08 pm Keep receiving phone calls from different people with heavy accent claiming they are with Microsoft and they have located a virus on my computer. Knew it was a scam due to the number of calls, so I played along. Told him the computer owner had a mental breakdown due to a virus on his computer he could not get rid of. I then blamed the caller for not letting us know sooner. Told him I needed his name and address so I could sue him for not calling earlier. He became very confused and could not stay with script. So instead of getting upset with them, take the opportunity to keep them on line as long as possible. Tell them to "hold just a minute" while you get something to write with so they can "help" you. Then put the phone down and go about your business. Check back and say, "Are you still there?" Keep this going as long as possible. They can't scam someone else while you have them tied up. You could be protecting an innocent person, and you will certainly frustrate the scammer who has just wasted his or her valuable time with you. Usually ignore, but on 3 occasions have answered and requested to be removed from the calling list under the "Do Not Call" registry program. Accented man/woman claims to be from Microsoft Windows Technical Dpt and that my Microsoft Application has stopped due to computer downloading junk files in the back end harming my computer database. April 29, 2016, 4:57 pm This is a well-known scam run through India, China, Korea, and some of the Baltic States. The person will identify themselves as someone from "Windows Support" or "Microsoft Technical Support" and tell you that your computer is sending them error messages. Windows operating systems don't do this, and Microsoft doesn't call people directly. They then attempt to gain remote access to your computer. They may ask you to look in the Windows Event Viewer for events with red "X" marks, explaining that these are "viruses". These red "X" marks are very common errors thrown by system processes and are (usually) totally normal. Don't bother speaking to these criminals, just hang up every time or block the number. Of course, foreign accent & when you try to dial the # back ... it is a constact busy signal. When I came right out and told them I have reported them as a Fraud, I haven't gotten any more calls. They first said that wer from DELL --I had just bought a new laptop from them. The strange part was when they connected from DELL DIRECTLY TO WPS.
